aether1.org Penelope Wehrli He is alone, and has just arrived at a foreign place, where he will stay for some time.
She appears while he is asleep, she is his projection come to life, a copy of a trace of his memory which has become independent.
At first he tries to get rid of her. After each killing she reappears.
Then he accepts her as an autonomous creature.
While her sense of identity grows by living an everyday life, he loses his self and his confidence.
What happens between him and her could be a dream.
It’s also a modern version of Orpheus and Eurydike.

„How can we generate realities which are indistinguishable from normal reality for the rational beings that reside in them, although these realities are also subject to different principles? Is it possible to create an artificial reality that resembles natural reality completely, but which cannot be distinguished from it? The first question relates to generating worlds, the second question to creating illusions."
(Stanislaw Lem, Phantomology I)
